Recommended age 10-13

Basic art elements such as color study, proportions, shape and line relations, and texture will be introduced. Students will be working from reference images and simple still life, with subject matter first focusing on landscape and still life and later animals and people. An emphasis of the class will fall on understanding light and dark, working with a set color palate and gaining control over the medium used. Each student will produce about 2 drawings by the end of the term.

Acrylic paints: Titanium white, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Pthalo Blue, Mars Black

Small set of brushes (1" thick and smaller)

Paper palate

Canvas (about 12" x 16", could be smaller or larger)
